I currently work at a large Bay Area technology company as a Social Media SEO. I occasionally take on consulting projects, however I am selective about the clients I work with.
In order to understand the kind of online marketing services I offer, please visit my online marketing consulting services page, which lists the kind of services I offer to companies and individuals.
I evaluate consulting projects on the following criteria:
- Business model – I prefer to work with green businesses and for profit social enterprises that have a solid business and revenue model. I also prefer to work with established, well-funded nonprofits who are pioneering social innovation.
- Scope of project - Because I have limited time, I prefer to work on projects that are well defined in scope, rather than projects that have an unclear timeline. Examples of well defined projects include, Google Adwords account optimization, SEO audits, blog strategy and implementation, social media strategy and planning, 3 month social media campaigns, etc.
- Clarity of goals – I prefer to work with clients who are clear about their goals, have a solid sense of their current online traffic and performance statistics, and a clear idea of where they want to be ie. increase conversions by x% in 3 months.
- Time commitment - I only work with clients who understand that I will be able to work on their projects in the evening, and take calls early in the morning and at lunch time.
- Client relationship - It is important to me to have positive, respectful, mutually rewarding, fun and creative working relationships with people who place high value in honesty, integrity, and professionalism. I expect my clients to be reasonably responsive and organized, so that I can do my best job. It is my preference to decline working with individuals who do not share the same basic values.
I like helping people and I enjoy sharing what I know. However, my time is valuable to me. Depending on the nature of the consulting engagement, I charge $125-150/hour for a minimum of 10 hours, and $200/hour for anything less than 10 hours.
